EPIC High School Young Professional Program

The EPIC Young Professional Program, for high school students in grades 9 to 12, empowers participants through career exploration and self-discovery. It guides them in exploring diverse career fields, providing a blend of soft and hard skills development, job readiness training, and exposure to professionals of color. Our aim is to equip them with the tools to formulate a career plan, positioning these students as young professionals ready for the challenges of the real world.

Students will have the exciting opportunity to explore a multitude of career paths through Nationwide Children’s. The diverse array of fields they will delve into includes:

– HUMAN RESOURCES

– ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURE

– PRIMARY CARE, PHYSICAL THERAPY & SPORTS MEDICINE (EXPLORATION OF THE SIMULATION CENTER)

– Information Services (Artificial Intelligence, STEM)

All students will receive an Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal. OhioMeansJobs readiness seal: a formal designation students can earn on their high school diplomas and transcripts indicating they have the personal strengths, work ethic and professional experience necessary for success in the workplace. To receive this seal, students work with at least three experienced and trusted mentors who validate the students’ demonstration of professional skills in school, work or the community. This rubric from the Ohio Department of Education (entered below) outlines the 14 criteria used to evaluate students pursuing the seal and how to determine students’ skill levels within each criterion. This rubric can be used as a model for other states looking to establish formal designations to reflect students’ workforce-ready skills.
