MEN OF ICE PROGRAM SPECIALIst

Image Character Etiquette (ICE) Mentors/Eryn PiNK Girl Empowerment seeks a dedicated and inspired team member who is committed to creating positive and supportive spaces for boys to assist with facilitating and mentoring at the Men of ICE Programs. The full time Program Specialist candidate will possess the following skills: ability to build relationships with middle and high school youth; facilitate in an engaging, creative and supportive way; ability to incorporate youth development and community building in curriculum design; have a keen awareness of and celebrate the vast cultural experiences of black and brown youth.

The successful candidate possesses excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and ability to build relationships and interface with persons from a variety of backgrounds. Must be detail oriented, an independent self-starter, an advocate for youth and have a positive outlook and can-do attitude. Must also have a love of learning, be highly energetic, creative, a problem-solver, negotiator, and have the ability to work occasional evening and weekend schedule.

Key Responsibilities: 

Leadership 

  • Act as a role model for program participants
  • Demonstrate leadership to assure good conduct, safety and development of program participants
  • Foster a culture of excellence in program service deliver

Program Development and Implementation

  • Prepare and deliver high-quality, interactive programming for middle and high school boys, implementing lesson plans that are culturally relevant for a diverse student population
  • Lead and facilitate programs and groups, utilizing youth engagement and clinical counseling skills
  • Create a brave space for students to explore their values, identities, and academic and career options
  • Be a role model/mentor to boys, promoting their well-being, development, confidence, and success; motivate and inspire boys to be active participants in program activities, encouraging their long-term involvement
  • Record and maintain program, attendance, outcome, and evaluation data
  • Encourage the development of positive peer relationships among program participants
  • Facilitate program counseling sessions utilizing the  curriculum for community and school programs
  • Provide family and crisis intervention as needed
  • Perform weekly required documentation and special administrative assignments
  • Provide all necessary functions to develop the program using teacher training and school in-service presentations
  • Perform public relations and community outreach assignments as requested

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, education or a related human service field from an approved accredited university
  • 1-2 years experience delivering youth programming
  • Ability to work and communicate with middle and/or high school age youth
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and management skills
  • Ability to keep accurate records, prepare reports and present results
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal
  • Specialized knowledge in boys’ developmental needs and experience a plus
  • Experience and relatability working with Black and Brown youth 
  • Capacity to positively engage pre/adolescent boys
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, sharing information and effective practices
  • Ability to pass criminal background and sex offender checks.
  • Willingness to occasionally participate in youth sports activities.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of advanced psychological concepts (e.g. CBT, Clinical Processing, Modeling, and Group Development) is preferred.
  • Experience in event planning

  • Ability to encourage genuine and respectful communications among program participants
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, as seen in communications with students, parents, partners

Annual Salary Range $40,000 – $45,000
